Sometimes the simple things are truly spectacular, like this Basil Walnut Pesto Sauce Recipe!
Just a minor change and you have something you will want to eat all day…after making this pesto for a dipping sauce to go with my Parmesan roasted artichokes, I also managed to find a way to incorporate it into my yummy egg breakfast and had just enough to enjoy while snacking on some veggies later in the day. It would’ve lasted longer, but I had to share…
Have I mentioned that we are currently in our home away from home? I managed to forget some of my coolest kitchen gadgets at home, including a food processor and blender…so, everything goes into the Nutribullet. I started with my walnuts, as they were whole and I needed them to be pretty finely chopped to get a good 1/2 cup measurement. Then onto business!
For this pesto, combine the basil leaves, your finely chopped walnuts, olive oil, water, garlic cloves, and salt in the food processor or blender (or Nutribullet, in my case) and blend until smooth. Add the Parmesan cheese and blend for a few seconds, just enough to incorporate the cheese throughout the sauce. That’s it! Your walnut basil pesto sauce is ready to go 🙂
*I usually use more water than oil for my pesto sauce, feel free to change the amounts of water to oil to your preference. Also, more water can be added for a ‘runnier’ version.
Walnut Pesto Sauce Recipe
- 2 oz basil leaves (approximately 2 cups packed)
- 1/2 c walnuts (finely chopped for measuring)
- 1/4 c olive oil
- 1/4 c water
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 c Parmesan cheese
- Combine basil, walnuts, olive oil, water, garlic, and salt in your food processor, blender, or (like us) a Nutribullet and blend until smooth. Add the Parmesan cheese and blend for a few seconds, just enough to incorporate the cheese evenly.
